Announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), this new metro line will commence operations on September 9, 2029, enhancing the city’s world-class public transport infrastructure. Here are all the new details revealed about the Dubai Metro Blue Line.
About Dubai Metro Blue Line
The Dubai Metro Blue Line integrates seamlessly with the existing Red and Green Lines of the Dubai Metro. The route covers 30 kilometers, featuring 15.5 kilometers of underground tracks and 14.5 kilometers of elevated tracks.
The project will begin construction in April 2025 and progress through phased development. According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of the RTA, “This will be one of the best projects to be implemented in the Middle East region.”
The total investment for the project is a staggering AED 20.5 billion, awarded to a consortium of MAPA, Limak, and CRRC, renowned Turkish and Chinese construction giants.
The Dubai Metro construction projects are central to Dubai’s vision of creating a sustainable and efficient urban transit network. The RTA’s $5.6 billion contract ensures advanced safety measures, particularly in areas prone to flooding.
Al Tayer assured, “We have learned our lessons from past disruptions, and all necessary protections have been implemented to prevent such issues in the future.”
The Blue Line also includes the Metro’s first-ever crossing over Dubai Creek, featuring a 1,300-meter bridge, adding to the project’s engineering marvels.
